Day 4 of the 5-day black-and-white challenge! We’re getting near the finish line, folks.

Today, I thought it would be fun to take some of my earlier photos and put them into black-and-white, just to see what happens.

By the way, the photos with date stamps were ones I took before I figured out that I could turn off that feature. I converted them into black-and-white and added my signature, but couldn’t find a way to remove the date stamp.

Cody is cute no matter whether the photo is in full color or in black-and-white. And she knows it!

I’m getting much better at this already. Perhaps some day, I can make some money at it.

Maybe then I could update my kitchen:

I love the way black-and-white makes that kitchen look so much cleaner!

Eye Candy 3

This is Day 3 of my participation in the black-and-white photo challenge.

It’s been an incredible opportunity for me to learn a few things about using my new camera. Bear in mind that the last camera I used had film that had to be taken to store for processing before you could see the pictures. These new digital cameras are great – as soon as you click that shutter, you can view the picture in the little window. And you can immediately delete those that really suck (which in my case is most of them).

Yesterday, I learned how to put my name on the photographs. Today, I learned that my camera has a “reflection” setting which splits the screen and puts the photo on both sides, like this:

The camera has other features I’m playing with, too. The one I don’t like is the “punk” mode, like this (isn’t it awful?):

And now it’s time for my next invitee. Yesterday, I mentioned Marilyn Armstrong (of the blog, Serendipity), whose photographs I have admired for some time, and who is very happy to share her photographic expertise with those of us just starting out. I thought Marilyn had already participated in this challenge, but she hasn’t. Apparently, all those black-and-white photos she’s posted recently are for a different challenge.

So (drum roll), I hereby invite Marilyn Amstrong to join the party, if she’s willing and has the time.

Marilyn, I’m sure you can show us all how to do it best!

Eye Candy 2

If you read my post yesterday (and why didn’t you?), you know that I have accepted the 5-day black-and-white challenge. I won’t repeat everything here (since you already read that post, didn’t you?).

I want to start off with today’s invitation for another blogger to join the fun. I hereby nominate Dan Antion of the blog, No Facilities. Dan had the courage to follow not only this blog, but to also follow me on Flickr.com – and he even favorited some of my photos on Flickr.com, the silly man. Having seen his photography, I am honored that he would risk his eyesight looking at mine.

So, Dan Antion – if you’re willing and have the time, please join us in the black-and-white challenge. To reiterate the rules, participants must publish black-and-white photos on 5 consecutive days and invite another blogger to the challenge on each of those days.

Which path should I take?

Thanks to Doobster pointing out that editing software came with my new camera, I have finally learned how to put my name on my photos. I always wondered how Marilyn Armstrong (of the blog, Serendipity) and other bloggers did it. And now I can, too. Woo-hoo!

Naturally, Teddy Rosalie has to be part of my new photographic life:

I was amazed that some photographs which really sucked in color look pretty cool in black and white:

Remember that fan picture from yesterday? Looks better in black-and-white, doesn’t it?
