There is no shortage of turkeys in November in the USA, and there is also no shortage of spam. This month I am thankful for the following spammers:
***
Comment (excerpt):
“Greetings from Carolina! I’m bored at work so I decided to check out your site on my iphone during lunch break. …”
Response:
Let see, now — in August, you were bored at work in Colorado; in September, you were bored at work in Ohio. Not a happy camper, are you? Perhaps you should try looking for employment in a totally different country. Just sayin’.
***
Comment:
“The justices said the FCC is free to revise its indecency policy.”
Response:
And what, exactly, did you find objectionable in my “Puppy Love at the SPCA“ post?
***
Comment:
“My son was sitting with a bunch of children studying the alphabet.”
Response:
Considering that this was written on my “WTF WordPress?” post, I have some concerns about your parenting ability. I truly believe ABC or XYZ would be a better combination of letters to teach your son than WTF. But then, I’m just a silly old lady.
***
Comment:
“I recognize there is a superb deal of spam on this site. Do you want aid cleaning them up? I may assist in between courses!”
Response:
And who better to recognize spam than the spammer himself (herself?) — thanks for the offer, but I’m doing a good enough job on my own in this regard (just ask my readers).
***
Comment (written on one of the Spam-Bam posts):
“Thanks , I’ve just been looking for information approximately this topic for a while and yours is the best I’ve came upon so far. But, what concerning the bottom line? Are you positive concerning the supply?”
Response:
Yes, I am absolutely positive that I will not run out of spam comments any time soon, nor will any other blogger on WordPress. But rest assured, that I am probably the only blogger who really appreciates you.

APPARENTLY, SOME SPAMMERS DON’T FIND ME AMUSING:
Comment:
“Hey, you used to write exceptional, but the last couple of posts have been kinda boring? I miss your super writings. Past few posts are just a little out of track! come on!”
Response:
Sorry, but it’s really not all about you.
***
AND THIS IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SPAM COMMENT SO FAR:
“Up yours!”
Response:
Back at ‘ya.

Christmas is coming. What will the spammers give me next month? Join me then to find out.
(As usual, apologies to the appropriate commenter if any of the foregoing weren’t, in fact, spam. I realize that some comments suffer in translation, and I try to take that into account when determining what is spam and what is legitimate.)

Yes sometimes we cannot recognize spammers from a real one. But it is still safe to separate the rotten from the good one. Sorry for my words…

. Oooh, OooH, CM, you comment hog, you. “Past few posts are just a little out of track!” – that baby is mine CM – don’t try to deny it. I got my second spam comment! I am so proud. I have some strawberry cheese cake ice cream in the freezer, I do believe I shall break it out and celebrate.

Yes, Paul – having your own spammers definitely means you have arrived! If I lived closer, I would ask to share that ice cream with you, but I will celebrate her in your honor.

I don’t get a lot of spam, but the spam I have gotten is a doozy. This spammer clearly failed at some fundamental level (I mean, beyond the fact that spammers are low lives anyway)

Read your post – I love those 100-line spam comments! Not that I ever read them, but I find it amusing that they have so many different themes in that one comment. Thanks for joining me today.

So what you’re saying, CM, on this day of thanksgiving, is that what you’re most thankful for is the spam your blog gets. Alrighty then. Have a great Thanksgiving.

You sure do know how to twist someone else’s words. I’m actually grateful that I even still have a blog (it was really, really iffy at times in the recent past), and the spammers help keep me in material to maintain that blog.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too. Enjoy your tofu. (Oh, wait, they’re not even offering that, are they? Poor Doobster. Hop on a plane and come to my house – we’re having the whole traditional spread, even though there’s only 3 of us this year, too.)

Thanks for the invitation, CM. I might have taken you up on that, but Buffalo? I heard it won’t stop snowing there until March. At least that’s what one of the spammers wrote.

Actually, our snow is all gone. But I hear they got something like 10 feet of snow in Alberta, Canada yesterday. I wondered where ours went.

See? maybe this is why I need a blog. so I can have Spam. I love Spam! (ala Monty Python)
I enjoy your blog CM!

Thanks, Julie. If it weren’t for the spammers, I’d be one post short each month!
Stay tuned – I have some exciting posts coming up, and at least one of them might be about puppies and kitties.
