Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It’s Home From Work I Go (Legally)

After a long work week, I came across this older post and simply couldn’t resist sharing it with you again. My new job may be the pits most days, but at least I no longer have to drive through city traffic.

(BTW, the best part of the story is at the end – be sure to click through to the original post!)

Rush HourDriving home after a long workday is never easy – rush hour, crowded expressways, aggression and anger.  Personally, I avoid expressways as much as possible, but my route through city back streets often has me biting my nails and wearing out the car’s brakes and horn.

Really, people:  a stop sign means that you are supposed to STOP your vehicle, not keep rolling slowly with an eye to stomping on the gas pedal as soon as there’s a two-inch break in oncoming traffic.

Bicyclists:  the narrow far right lane is there for a reason, and there’s a reason it has the picture of a bicycle painted on it – maybe it’s specifically for your use?  Do you think?  And I hate to tell you, but the stoplight and stop sign rules apply to you as much as to vehicular traffic.  Weaving around moving cars and trucks simply is not…

The Not Sabbatical

Say what?

cordeliasmom2012's avatarNot Cordelia's Mom

I’m laughing my ass off over here.  CookieCakes is going on sabbatical and thinks I’m going with her!  Little does she know.

While she’s off doing whatever it is she needs to do, she won’t be paying any attention whatsoever to what I’m doing in her absence.  That silly dog and stupid teddy bear best watch out.  ShadowPaws and I intend to make the most of things.

Let the fun begin!

Puppy Cody is trying to eat ShadowPaws!

SABBATICAL

Those of you who are my loyal followers (and not just following to increase your own stats) may have noticed that my posts have become increasingly sporadic.  I know you’ve missed me (she says optimistically).

Anyway.

I’m afraid I must continue to disappoint you, but just a little longer.  Due to some exciting happenings in the land of Cordelia’s Mom and Not Cordelia’s Mom, we are both going on sabbatical.  (Um, I haven’t actually asked Not CM for her opinion – hopefully she’ll agree, not that she has any choice, right?  I suspect, however, she may have something to say about it in the days ahead.)

Anyway.

If you paid attention and clicked on the sabbatical link (above, but I’m re-linking it here for those of you who live in your own little worlds), you’ll note that Wikipedia defines sabbatical as “a rest from work, or a break, often lasting from two months to a year.”  (Now you don’t even have to click the link, see how nice I am to my readers?)

My sabbatical should last two or three months, and at the end I am going to have some very entertaining posts for you all to enjoy.  Meanwhile, I will re-blog some of my favorite posts so that you don’t forget me.

Please, please don’t forget me!

Chow (um, ciao) for now.  See you in a few.

Meet Teddy Rosalie

Several times in the past couple of weeks, I’ve woken up at 5:55 a.m. I’ve been thinking about my mother a lot, and I’ve also been thinking about lost friends. Coincidence? Or is someone trying to tell me something? Be sure to read the comments, especially the ones by Doobster and Paul, both of whom are missing from the blogosphere – Paul by death, and Doobster? Who knows? He just folded up shop a couple of years ago, whether because he grew bored or ill – no one seems to know.

As for Teddy Rosalie – she hasn’t been doing as much traveling as I anticipated because I was forced to go back to full-time work. Maybe once I’m retired, that will change. For now, she stays at home and comforts me.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA My Teddy Rosalie

11:11 ….. 2:22 …. 4:44

For years, I have noticed myself looking at a watch, wall clock, phone, or computer clock at exactly 11:11 a.m. or  11:11 p.m.  At one point, it began freaking me out a bit, and I decided to look up the possible significance.

There are many theories, some more far-fetched than others, but this is my favorite:

“These 11:11 Wake-Up Calls on your digital clocks, mobile phones, VCR’s and microwaves are the ‘trademark’ prompts of a group of just 1,111 fun-loving Spirit Guardians, or Angels, and the 11:11 prompt is their way of using our innate ability for pattern recognition to let us know that they are here. Once they have your attention, they will use other digits, like 12:34, or 2:22 to remind you of their presence.”

Keep in mind that I am one of the most non-religious persons…
