Award FU (“Follow-Up” – you smut-minded people!)

PhonyThank you to those readers who responded to my self-serving award post!  I wasn’t sure how that would go over, but you’ve demonstrated that at least some of you not only really love me and my blog (yes, grammar police, I know it should be “my blog and me”), but are capable of processing my words in the spirit in which they were intended.

True, the narcissistic part of my brain was hoping the award would go viral (“Whoopee, we all LOVE Cordelia’s Mom!”), but the practical side of me expected the whole Cordelia’s Mom, Still Enthusiasm Award idea to simply evaporate into the Twilight Zone [mixed metaphors are fun!].

Obviously, the award was created as a lighthearted response to the numerous awards in the blogosphere, some of which are legitimate and some of which are, like mine, self-serving.  I don’t mean to malign any of those other awards, and in fact, I proudly display a few of those coveted award badges on my own blog pages.

ThankYouEveryLanguageThere was the element of truly wanting to recognize those bloggers who have avidly supported me over the past 11 months – I believe you all know who you are.  I figured offering a no-strings-attached “award” would have a little more oomph than simply writing another “thank-you-for-still-loving-me” post.

And of course, there is always the possibility that some newer bloggers will think having that colorful award image on their own pages would be fun.  I know when I first started out, I would have put ANYTHING on my page (well, maybe except porn images), just to make myself look more legitimate and to try to gain a few more followers.

(Maybe that’s why the Harshly Pressed badge is still on here – although I do enjoy reading Opinionated Man, and was quite happy when he reblogged one of my posts awhile back. Plus, it was a nice way to finger-wave at the Wordpress Gods who have thus far failed to award me the much-deserved Freshly Pressed badge.)

SpecialOfferIn any event, the offer still stands:  Any of you who wish to add the Cordelia’s Mom, Still Enthusiasm Award image to your own blog page are free to do so.  You can find the image on the right side of this page, under “Awards” – just right click on it and save it to your own desktop, then copy and paste it into your own  blog.  Then, either link the image itself back, or let me know in the comments that you’ve used it.

Cody and I thank you.  (ooooo, new idea:  The  Puppy Cody Award!  I’ll work on that.)

Survivor’s Guilt

This is the very first post from a brand new blogger, and what an incredible post it is! Please welcome Ollie’s Mommy (mother of Oliver C. Damon of Chronicle of a Wayward Son) to the blogging community.

Coming Clean

It weighs a ton It weighs a ton

I have such mixed emotions concerning the death of my husband of nearly 45 years. So far, I haven’t found anyone who I feel shares my feelings. At first, I went to “grief share” sessions hosted by my church right after he died but I was so frustrated that I stopped going. I felt that I was alone in the way I was feeling and nobody there felt like I did…or at least they weren’t being honest about it if they did.

Overwhelmed by the Two G’s

Nobody can fix this feeling Nobody can fix this feeling

So how was I feeling (and still feeling for that matter)? I feel the two “G”s…grief and guilt. Naturally, I feel grief for my loss ( I had lost a man that I had deeply loved for 45 years).  But I also feel guilt because I’m relived that I am finally…

And the Duel Is On!

Cat vs DogNow that the cat’s out of the bag, anyone who wishes to watch the ongoing duel between Not Cordelia’s Mom and Cordelia’s  Mom needs to sign up to follow both posts.  Cordelia’s Mom does not intend to reblog every Not CM post, and vice versa.  Visit Not Cordelia’s Mom to follow that site (just click on the link in this sentence).

The most recent activity must have scared the hell out of Not CM, however, because she has now added a disclaimer page to the mirror blog.  Check it out.

Let the sparring begin!

(And thank you, again, Oliver C. Damon, for giving me the platform to “out” myself.  Not CM is way to self-centered to have ever admitted she isn’t real, and Cordelia’s Mom was too embarrassed to do so on her own blog after the unexpected responses she received.)

BLOGGING PSYCHOLOGY 101

It was a fun 24 hours, but it’s time to come clean. With apologies to anyone who feels they were, in fact, deceived, I hope you’ll appreciate my guest post and that you’ll continue to follow both of my blogs.
