Here’s your chance of a lifetime! Oxford Pennant in Buffalo, NY is running the Warmest Cold City Contest, in which you can win an all-expense-paid trip to my hometown.
I saw this contest on Facebook and then checked out the Oxford Pennant’s website. It is a legitimate company and a legitimate contest. Check it out (it takes a few seconds for the video to load, at least on my computer, just so you know).
So jump on in and enter! If you win, Teddy Rosalie and I will make arrangements to meet with you during your stay. That’s not noted in the contest information because apparently not everyone in the world (nor even everyone in Buffalo, darn it) has heard of Cordelia’s Mom. Just consider it an extra perk if you win.
I can vouch for the Hotel Henry and its 100 Acres Restaurant, having dined there recently. While I can’t attest to the quality of the guest rooms, I can state that the food in the restaurant was awesome and that the building’s architecture alone is worth a tour. Heck, I may enter the contest just so I can go back for a nice staycation.

The Buffalo Zoo has bison!
There are so many places to see and things to do in Buffalo. While Teddy Rosalie visited the History Museum and the Buffalo Zoo in summertime, they are open year ’round, and she and I would love to show them to you.
The only drawback to the contest, as I see it, is that the airfare is paid only from a city within the continental United States, which pretty much leaves out my international readers – unless, of course, you’re willing to pay your own way to the States. I’m worth it, right?
Go for it, people! When you win, let me know so we can start planning the party.
(Note the entry deadline is February 1, and that the trip must be taken between February 8 and March 10. You all have a few vacation days available, right?)

I’ll only go to Buffalo if I can ride a bison. Actually, I wouldn’t mind a free vacation there, but I’m afraid a big blizzard will hit, and we won’t be able to leave.

Actually, we’ve had very little snow this year. Right now, it’s 42 degrees. Plus, I know how to drive in snow, and my house is within half a mile of the airport. I’d get you there.

I have to say, this contest is mighty enticing! All the food sounds great! No current plans to visit Pittsburgh or Buffalo, but I’ll let you know if I do.

You know I fear the Thruway drive in February and March, CM, no matter how good it’s been so far. Icy today, snow coming Wednesday through Friday, for example …

Ah, but Mark – they pay the airfare from any city in the continental US. It’s a hop-skip-jump from the Syracuse airport to the Buffalo airport. I’d so love to meet you and Karen.

Good point. And we, you, CM.

My childhood best friend lives in Liverpool, and I haven’t seen her in years. Perhaps it’s time for a weekend trip – once I’m sure of the weather.
(There are so many blogging friends I’m dying to meet, and so little time and money.)

I think you should plan an event to the east, CM, to see all of us. 🤓

It’s something I’ve thought about often, Mark, but there’s that little issue of money.

Aww…too bad I’m so far away, CM. I would love to meet you and Teddy Rosalie. (●’ᴗ’σ)σணღ*

I know, me too. But I’ve since re-read the contest rules, and it turns out only US residents are eligible anyway. Even people who could get to the US easily (like Canadians) are excluded. Guess I’ll have to find some other way to meet my international blogging friends.

I knew that was you, NBC, and I left my response on the comment from “Someone”. 🙂

It’s not intentional, CM. Something went wrong when I tried to send the comment. I must have hit the wrong key. LOL! (♡´͈༝`͈)ฅ˒˒

I’ve been to Buffalo half a dozen times, from when I was a kid to pretty recently. It’s actually a nice city with terrible weather. It’s really the weather that’s the issue. I entered. I’d go just to meet YOU guys, but if there’s 10 feet of snow on the ground … well … we see.

We’ve only had a dusting of snow so far this year, at least where I live near the airport. When you win, I will be glad to drive you around. I have all-wheel drive.
