CM May Have Been Hacked

Probably no one has noticed, but I have deleted the button allowing readers to follow this website via Facebook.

Recently, I received a comment on my Cordelia’s Mom Facebook page, and when I tried to go onto that page to reply to the comment, there was a message that the page was unavailable due to “technical difficulties” and that the issue would be resolved “soon.”  I have been receiving this same message for a couple of weeks now and have been unable to access my own CM page.  I don’t know how long before that the page was down, as I don’t check it regularly.  Nowhere is there a number or email to contact FB to find out what’s going on with that page, nor have I received any email or other contact from FB to tell me there’s been a problem.

So, I went onto my personal FB account page and tried to contact customer support from that account.  Thus far, there has been no response.  I continue to be unable to reach the CM page, nor am I able to delete it.

Thus, I felt it prudent to remove the FB button from this website, at least until the issue is resolved.

Do any of my readers know of some way to contact FB when the page in question is not accessible to its owner?

Meanwhile, I have been busy working on my  new love – crocheting.  In only a couple of weeks, I finished my first afghan (see photo at top).  This one has been claimed by one of my daughters, and another daughter has chosen colors for her afghan, which I have started.  It, too, is going to be awesome.

Such handiwork is keeping me off the streets and out of trouble, which is a good thing.  My long-time readers know that Cordelia’s Mom is not always as sweet as she pretends to be.

On an unrelated matter, how’s everyone doing on getting those vaccines?  I’ve had my first shot (which left one hell of a bruise that’s still there nearly  weeks later!), and the second shot will be next week.  Then six months from now, I guess I’ll be doing it all over again – although hopefully the booster shots will be single doses, making it so much easier to schedule around my Remicade infusion schedule.

This has not been the most exciting post, has it?  Especially since I’ve been absent.  No reason for that absence other than the fact that I’ve become a bit bored both with writing and photography.  Perhaps once the nicer weather arrives (and stays for awhile), the fun will return to those endeavors.

But at least I haven’t given up completely.  I found my way back to the Classic Editor (thank you, Archon!), which certainly helps.  And discovering that some of my photos have been picked up by other sites under the Creative Commons guidelines also helps.  I mean, thousands and thousands of photos available on any particular subject, and they chose mine?  How awesome is that?

Happy Weekend, Everyone!  Stay safe and healthy.

The afghan is beautiful! Facebook issue – no idea. Booster for Covid? Really? Guess I should be paying more attention to the news. I had my second shot – made me so so tired, I basically spent the day sleeping. Mine were the Moderna vaccine.

    • I also am getting the Moderna. At the first shot, the pharmacist was telling people to plan on taking it easy the day after the second shot because most people experience extreme exhaustion. I’m ok with sleeping all day, so long as I don’t get any worse symptoms.

Thanks for the compliment on the afghan. Since it was the first I’ve done in many years, there are a few minor errors which don’t show in the photo. The next one should be better – my daughter requested dark gray, light gray, and magenta, and it’s working up beautifully.

  2. Your crochet is beautiful! Your daughters will be wrapped in your love every time they wear it.
Had our first shots in February 20th /1st March but have to wait until mid and end of May for the second as they are 12 weeks apart here. No problems for either of us other than a headache and feeling extra tired. Our neighbour (70) had a horrific bruise, and residents we know of in their 50s had a bad reaction, one being laid up for three weeks. We are OK though, ticking over, and waiting for the influx of visitors to arrive on Monday 😦

Glad to see you back, CM, and sorry to hear about your FB problems. Awesome that your photos have been picked up. Looking forward to seeing your writing as the weather warms up.

Wish we had more access to vaccine north of the border… but it’s proceeding very slowly.

The afghan is very pretty. As for Facebook, they are notoriously slow in responding, and equally unhelpful when they do respond. Our company page was taken over. It took six months to regain control and I had to jump through hoops to prove I was me. Hopefully your having a personal page will make it easier.

I think we can all expect to be getting annual booster shots. They won’t really know how long these are effective, but those in the trials have had them for over six months and many are still being monitored. The first recipients are closing in on five months. I had my second shot about a month ago. The aches and side effects were short lived.

    • Having been through a similar FB scenario with your own company, do you think this issue will cause problems anywhere else for me? I don’t have any bank information connected with that account, and so far as I know it was only linked to my WP site. I wondered If I should take down the WP site to be safe, but I’d prefer not to have to do that.

Glad you got the vaccine. Most of my readers seem to be eager to do so. Hopefully, it will help end the pandemic at some point.

  5. Facebook makes it essentially impossible to contact anyone about anything. I no longer use FB at all. I don’t even use it to promo my blog. I dislike the way it is run and the people who own it. They do a lot of damage and I’m also one of the people whose personal information they sold. They got me hacked not once, but TWICE. They are dangerous!

Ladybug and I got our first shots on Easter Sunday. https://archonsden.wordpress.com/2021/04/06/gahh-ive-been-shot/ Aside from being a bit delayed, it went so smoothly that I played the tale for humor, as I often do. 😀
