It was Puppy Cody’s first visit, ever, to a pet store.
I was a bit nervous about taking her as I know how difficult she can be in strange situations, especially where other dogs might be present. I envisioned her balking at the automatic doors and then us having to drag her through the store to the back so as to utilize the self-service dog wash (another first).
But Cody was a princess! The moment she entered the doors, she began sniffing at every single bag of food and each individual toy. She was in heaven.
Even the dog wash didn’t phase her. Maybe because she knew other dogs had survived that tub before her, or maybe she just enjoyed the extra hugs as the shampoo was rubbed into her fur. Afterwards, she didn’t even try to escape – she stood patiently while we toweled off most of the wetness, and then calmly waited for her own leash to be reattached.
Good dog!
At home, Cody crashed from all the excitement, so we decided to let her rest and took a short drive to the river. I had hoped to get some decent photos, but all I managed was the hotel across the river:

Some docked boats across the river:

And of course, seagulls and ducks (lots of ducks):

Swimming is tough on a windy day

Determination!

Gotta find some dinner!

Back on shore, everything’s just ducky.
It was a nice change of pace on a Sunday, especially for those of us who are not football fans.
Tomorrow, it’s back to work. Hope the next week is uneventful for all of us.

Wow, what a big river. What we call rivers out here, you would probably call a creek. Love the pic of the seagull wanting french fries.

The river was unusually wild today. I made sure not to get too close to the edge. Falling in would have gotten me a quick trip over Niagara Falls.

We had a cat that was an utter terror at home. Hissing, scratching… a total dick! First time we took him to the vet I was worried thinking he’d go ballistic. They all loved him and said he was an angel. Go figure!

Cats scare me. Probably why I don’t have one.

I know exactly from where you took those pictures, CM. It’s been a long while since I’ve been out that way. I love out there! Great pictures! And as for Cody …. good boy!!

Thanks, Amy. We needed an hour or two off by ourselves, and the river seemed like a good choice. Although, I actually prefer the river further north, like the parks just past Smith Boys. It’s less busy up there (and sometimes you can see the mist from the Falls!).
