Apparently, it’s a locust tree. I’m not a gardener, so I thought it was a pepper tree. Or maybe they’re similar? Got me.
Anyway.
The trip to the dentist went well. Even after 20 years, I only have one small cavity and one broken tooth which requires a crown. Thank heavens for dental insurance.
Of course, there was that bad tooth a year or so ago – but before I could make an appointment with the dentist, the tooth simply fell out on its own. According to this week’s x-rays, the roots are still in place, but since they aren’t bothering me, nothing needs to be done.
Today’s highlight was a visit to the vet clinic to get Puppy Cody’s nails clipped. Sure, I could do it myself, but Cody has black nails and that scares me as I can’t see the quick. Well worth the small cost and short drive to have a professional take care of it. And she so loves those young vet techs who give her all kinds of hugs (and probably treats) while they’re clipping!
Everyone has their favorite critter, and mine (other than Puppy Cody, of course) has always been frogs. Every time we go to the vet clinic, I admire the Dyeing Poison Tree Frogs in their beautiful tropical aquarium. Today, I managed to photograph them:

Every group has that one individual who just can’t get with the program.
Aren’t they pretty? And a wee bit intimidating?
Enough excitement so far this weekend. I’m already worn out!
Hope your weekend is going well, too, and that wherever you are, you have great weather.

Clipping those nails is always scary. Way worth it to have someone else do it.

Absolutely. Sometimes even they clip too far, but being a vet’s office, they can take care of it easily.

I like those colorful tree frogs.

Aren’t they gorgeous? But also deadly. I’m glad they’re inside an aquarium. It’s kind of creepy the way they stare at me like I’m their next meal or something.

If you found out because of my post, I’m glad to have helped you identify that previously unknown tree. Now there’s two of us that know what a locust tree looks like.

We used to have the folks at the vet clip Ellie’s nails, too, CM, but now my dear wife Karen tries to do them one by one as the dog has calmed down about the issue a bit.

Cody never calms down enough, at least not for me. But she does love the young female vet techs and pretty much behaves for them.

We thought we had the vet thing down until Karen saw they put a hood over Ellie’s head when they took her back to do her nails, CM. No!

oh, no! That would do it for me, too. WE had one dog that we took to a chain pet store, and when we got her back she was very lethargic. Found out later the store routinely gives sedatives to dogs that seem too excited. We never went there again.
Our vet has had the same techs since Cody was 8 weeks old, so they’re like family. Sometimes it takes two of them to do those nails, but they do it with cuddles.

Our vet has more of a turnaround, unfortunately, CM. I’m glad for your sweet Cody’s good friends.
