On January 6, 2015, Puppy Cody showed me how much she loves snow.
I watched her run frantically around the yard, and could hardly believe my eyes after she stopped – and I saw what appeared to be a heart!
Good dog!
So far this year, there has been no more than a dusting of snow lasting only a day or two. But that’s fine by me – no snow means no snow-covered roads and no drivers who have forgotten how to drive on them. No snow (and no ice) means no sliding into the middle of intersections despite the antilock brakes and all wheel drive. No snow means not having to push that heavily laden grocery cart through 6 inches of slush in the parking lot.
Of course, no snow also means no snow days. Bummer.
But I understand Mother Nature may have plans to take care of that in the next few weeks. I’m ready, but definitely not looking forward to it.
Are you one of those misguided souls bemoaning this year’s lack of snow? Or are you in one of the areas that has, in fact, received snow – and you’ve already had enough? Leave a comment so those of us in your camp may commiserate with you.

Snow? What’s that?!

Something the majority of us don’t need, or want.

Snow is terrific – if you’re skiing, or able to sit by a fire and not have to get out or have a sled dog that is enchanted by it. But none of that here unless you count the liquid version and the chilling grey grey grey days.
Stay snug!

For sure. That dusting was more than enough for me for this year.

Can I be in both? I love snow — but hate driving in it because I apparently am the only person in the greater DC area who knows how to do it. The rest of them are in front of me, and we are approaching a hill.
But there are few things as beautiful as snow. Duncan loves it too.

I remember being in DC in the early to mid-70’s when they had something like 3-4 inches of snow. Granted there was also a fair amount of ice, but I was still amused when the city had to close. I was in a car pool at the time, and the day the storm hit, the driver turned to those of us from northern climates and asked for a volunteer to drive home – then was shocked when the volunteer drove more than 10 mph.
I do love new fallen snow – provided I’m looking at those sparkles from inside my nice warm house.

Exactly what happens all the time! A few years ago, a co-worker told me that when it was snowy she would stop at the bottom of each hill and literally pray that she would make it to the top! Her prayers were often ignored! 😈

No snow here in San Diego, just rain, rain, and more rain. I’ve never lived in snow. Scares me to even think about driving in it.

True, snow is a pain, and driving can be scary, but we’re used to it. Constant rain would depress me, and earth tremors would have me hiding under the basement stairs. I guess people have a tendency to adapt to whatever environment they’re currently living in.

This is true. Earthquakes don’t really bother me much. I’ve grown up with them just being part of life. I love to go to the snow. 😉

For decades we rarely ever got snow. Then five years ago BOOM! Ice storms, every year. Snow every year. So far nothing this year. Makes me kinda sad.

I imagine snow causes some real traffic jams where you are. How much snow do you usually get in years that it does snow?

The year my son was born, we got 13 inches. It was a record. I had never seen that much snow. Typically it is 2-4 inches. Doesn’t sound like much but it is enough to cover everything in whispers. 🙂

Love the heart, good dog indeed! I’m not complaining about the weather. As long as we don’t set another record for “coldest” something, I’m good. Last February was the coldest month ever recorded in CT since they started keeping records.

It was unusually cold last year. I remember freezing my fingers off trying to get that heart-in-the-snow photo.

That heart is perfect. We have not yet seen a snowflake this season. No snow…no problem for me ! I know it will arrive, but hopefully, coming so late, will melt quickly. Fingers crossed. ❄️ ❄️ ❄️

I’d prefer little to no snow, no matter how late. Maybe with less snow, there will be less mud in the spring. I don’t want Cody trying to make mud-hearts.

A little late to this one – as I often am. Yesterday, Nature had her second snarl at us of the season. Last night, Shimoniac and I went out to see ‘STAR WARS’, the biggest movie of the season – of all time! We sat alone in the theatre. Just as the ads and previews started, three more young guys wandered in. 😕 😯

I’m glad we were home last night. Temp was near 50 F at 5:00pm, then started dropping rapidly, and the snow started. Not much snow, but icy as hell this morning, with a temp around 20 F. (So, I’m also glad I’m home today – by tomorrow the ice should be gone.)
