Getting Warmer

As April slides into May, and temperatures climb ever so slowly past frigid, many of us are looking forward to summer with its lazy days around the pool.

(By the way, Cody destroyed that pool not too long after those pictures were taken.)

  1. You made me laugh. We used to have a kiddy pool for the dogs. Destroyed. Got a new one. Destroyed. Gave up. They prefer lolling around in the air conditioning anyhow 🙂

Ha Dogs are fascinated by man-made pools of water. My landlady had a wonderful rescue dog who lived in a little wading pool that she kept filled for him during the summer. He had a degenerative bone disease and only lived a few years. Although they treated him for pain, you could see him wince sometimes when he put a paw wrong or turned the wrong way. He always seemed so happy when he was laying in his wading pool. We put the pool beside the front porch where we tended to hang out, drink adult refreshments and have deep discussions. He would lay there and his head would swivel back and forth as he followed the conversation with a big sloppy grin on his face..

    • Water therapy is often used for dogs with hip problems or arthritis, if the owner can afford it. The water takes the weight off the dog’s joints. My boss had a Golden Retriever which had had a stroke and couldn’t use his hind legs after. The dog had water therapy and improved to the point where he could walk on three legs and kind of gimp along on the fourth – and even with the gimp, he could outrun me if he wanted to.

CODY!!!!!! I love Cody pictures! My poor little dog won’t go in the kiddie pool… He is just too worried he might have to swim. I think ours (kiddie pool) is a little bigger than that, maybe 5′ across, but you should see my 24 yr old daughter lounge in it…..

Cody’s cautious approach would suit Ellie B fine with a kiddie pool, too, CM. She’s then figure out how to collapse the side, as well. 🙂 Great shots here.
