Really? Have you, or anyone you’ve ever known, tried to eat raw flour?

Then again, our own incompetent King President recently suggested ingesting bleach to cure COVID-19, so maybe such a silly warning is, in fact, necessary.

New York State is slowly coming back to life.  Five regions in the state are starting to reopen today – including those regions which contain Rochester and Syracuse (yay for you, Mark!).  Erie County, however, still has growing hospitalization numbers, so we remain in total lockdown.

I’m ok with that.  At this point, I’m not sure I even want to go back to work – although I’ll have to once the federal and state funds run out.  It would appear that  my return to work will coincide with Mother Nature finally agreeing to stop the rain and allow us some sunshine.  Of course.  I’ll get to go back to work at the exact same time the nicer weather is telling me to get out there and do something already.

Like a bull in a … construction zone. Maybe he’s getting stir-crazy, too?

I do have “real” masks now.  Although the China-sourced masks are still maneuvering the U.S. Postal Service somewhere in this country (they did clear customs in Los Angeles, but no word since then), the Arizona-sourced masks have arrived.  Apparently USPS simply never updated their tracking system to show that the masks were, in fact, on the way.

Meanwhile, the cooking, baking and video game playing continue.  Even Puppy Cody is growing lazy.  Thank heavens we have a decent sized yard in which she can chase bunnies and squirrels:

Can you see Puppy Cody behind the garage? She looks so tiny from so far away.

I have to be especially diligent when Cody is out there, because we’re into bunny mating season and last year (and the year before) she found the bunny nest before I could and ate one or two of the babies.  Definitely not a fun time for me, although Cody seemed to enjoy herself (and her treat) immensely.  Ugh.

Where are those bunnies? (This was taken last year. We don’t have flowers yet this year.)

Last year’s bunny family – weren’t they cute?

Now it’s time for the highlights of my day – watching Gov. Cuomo’s daily news conference, and doing laundry.  Probably no baking today, we are well-stocked with homemade cakes, cookies and rolls.  I’m afraid to get on the scale since I wasn’t thin to begin with.

To those of you who are venturing out into a newly reopening world – wear your mask and keep your distance.  The rest of us will be watching to see how things work out for you before we go out ourselves.

And to all my readers:  Hugs.  Stay safe and healthy.

British Columbia is lifting many restrictions as of today, and it’s a holiday weekend to boot. I do not relish seeing what results turn up in a couple of weeks. We really had the caseload down low, and now it’s likely to rise.
I have been working on the cabin every now and then, which is fine because it’s far from anyone. Today I have to go to town, which is not fine because that’s where all the people are. Oh well.

My state is having its partialopening starting today. I however, am maintaining my separateness because the number of Daily new cases has not dwindled.

I think where people eat raw flour is when they lick the spoon or bowl that they use for making cake or cookie batter. The plain, powdery form is not very tasty.
I love the photo of the bull with the overset pylons. It really looks like that bull caused all that havoc.

    • When I saw that construction site, my first thought was “a bull in a china shop” – I simply couldn’t resist taking the photo. As for the flour, I really think that warning was meant for people who ingest spoonfuls of the stuff, not for those who simply lick the spoon during the baking process. I suppose people could be adding raw flour to nutrition shakes or something.

  4. Take care and keep safe. We’re dreading the next few months as the holidaymakers are coming to town in force.

My dog Idina found a bunny’s nest two years ago. They were younger than those – little pink things. She was very gentle with them, which is surprising since the acts the huntress whenever she sees an adult rabbit…

We start lifting restrictions on the 20th, although some legislators are trying to push that date back, while others want the date moved up. We’ll wait and see how things go. I hope they go well.

  7. Good to hear that things are getting better on your side, CM. The government here has recently relaxed the restrictions so rapidly that the health experts are worried there could be a second wave of Covid-19 infections. Anyway, wishing you and Puppy Cody a good hare day! Stay safe!

Yes, we are reopening phase by phase in Central New York, CM. I await word on the date when I will be called into a some-days-in-library, some-days-still-from-home schedule as the Library plans, acclimates and gets the OK to begin safe accommodations for patrons and staff alike. Every step in our state’s gate-swing will be closely tied to metrics, as you know from watching the governor’s daily address. That is somewhat comforting. Yes, I will continue to wear my mask and stay six feet away from EVERYONE as I venture out in the reopened community. Yet I worry that others won’t, the sneaky virus will retaliate, and we’ll have to retreat worse for our efforts. Hang in there and be safe!

Pity about the bunnies and nature and all that.
My dog loves to clean up any flour spills. Other than that, no, I don’t think any of us have tried to eat flour as is… all kids try cocoa powder at one time or another tho 😉

    • Ha. Today I made butter cookies with M&Ms and mixed the M&Ms into the dry ingredients. I was so tempted to take a picture of that before I added it to the eggs and butter. (I won’t photograph the cookies – they taste good but look awful.)

Oh, those wild flowers and bunnies are just what I needed today!
