It was a beautiful spring day, after a long, snowstorm-filled winter. It was also my co-worker’s birthday.
As my co-worker (whom I shall call Penelope for this post) entered the office building that morning, the security guard sang out, “Hey, Penelope! 60 today?”
In a huff, Penelope responded, “Hell, no – 50!”
The security guard had no way of knowing it was Peneloope’s birthday. Properly chastised, he apologized: “Oh, I guess they must have changed the weather forecast.”
Everyone in the office had a good laugh when the story was told around the coffee machine.
Today, in Western New York (after a long, snowstorm-filled winter), it’s supposed to reach 67 degrees. Today is also my birthday. Can you guess what birthday it is based on the prior story?
You probably guessed wrong. Mother Nature seems to have learned her lesson since that day. Today the outside temperature and the birthday match.
May your day be warm and beautiful today, too. Dare I say that spring is finally here?
TGIF!

Lol. Great story. Happy birthday, CM! Btw, are the buds on your trees really that far advanced? You’re ahead of us, it must be a birthday present for you!

Jane – That photo was taken in 2015, at our old house. We don’t have those kinds of trees at our new house. Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Happy birthday! If global warming continues, maybe the temperature will always match your birthday, in years to come.

Thanks, Tippy. I was s little annoyed, though, when the temperature actually got to 73! Maybe Mother Nature thinks I look that old …

That’s a dirty trick. But 73 in Buffalo this time of year is nothing to complain about.

Hope the weather cooperates and you have a great day…

The weather cooperated just long enough for me to do every one of my errands. Now that I’m in, it’s raining. I’m ok with that.

You better not say spring is here. I’ve heard more winter is coming. Sorry!

Yeah, but you’re at the other end of the country. So just keep your winter to yourself. Please.

Happy Birthday! I hope you have a GREAT day!
I don’t care how old you are, but I do feel a bit sad for Penelope, losing ten years in the time it took Security Guard to speak one sentence! lol
I’m not old enough to want the weather to match my age. Five-ten more years. I’ll blog about it then.
It’s warm enough here to have the door open for the doggy, but not warm enough for cats to window sit 🙂 We’ll take it!

It’s been in the mid- to high 60s the last two days, buy tomorrow it’s supposed to rain all day and Monday we may have some snow. Ugh.

Blah. I love snow, but even I am over it. Y’all people up there must swear a blue streak at this point!

It was, Mark. It was warm for a whole day! Of course, now it’s raining and cold, and tomorrow there may be snow.

Happy Birthday Fellow NYer. I love wearing woolies in the morning and shorts in the afternoon.

That’s about right, Jane. I love that photo that shows a WNYer lying outside his house, wearing a winter jacket on the top half, which is lying on snow, and shorts on the bottom half, which is in sunshine with green grass. Only people from the northern climes can truly appreciate that photo.
