Legal-Schmegal

Sorry, ladies and gentlemen, but my day job is in the legal field (no, I’m not a lawyer, thank you very much), and I try to be careful about keeping things legal.  Therefore, the obligatory legal statements will follow these introductory comments.

I don’t much care if you actually read the whole thing – when push comes to shove, it should be binding whether you read it or not (did I mention that I am not a lawyer and do not pretend to be one?)

Basically, what the fancy language in the Website Disclaimer means is this:

1.  Take everything I say with a grain of salt.  I am not an expert on anything.

2.  Except for guest posts and reader comments, the opinions in this blog are mine.  If I refer to a specific person, company, municipality, or geographic  location, that is not to be interpreted as an endorsement.

3.  If I inadvertently insult a person, company, municipality or residents in a specific geographic area, I might apologize, but you won’t get any money from me, even if by some miracle I have some money at the time of the alleged insult.

4.  While I’ll try to post on some sort of recognizable schedule, I can’t guarantee that I won’t have a delay due to sickness or lack of ideas; and I also can’t guarantee that I won’t UP the schedule if I get really excited about something  I’ve just written.

5.  Just because an ad appears on one of my pages, it doesn’t mean that I endorse that product or service, although I will make every effort to keep inappropriate ads off my pages.

6.  Oh, and please, please, please don’t get hurt, sick or die from reading this blog!

So, now that you understand my need to protect myself, here is the actual:

That’s me by the Why?-bubble, up there!

Love this – I can not only read it ’cause the type is big enough, I can read it ’cause the language is clear ~ Thank You, CM and Bright Blessings!

    • Glad you like it! I added it right before my post where I blasted the various colleges, ’cause I was afraid someone might take offense (no, they haven’t, thank heavens, or at least not yet). Always better to be safe, I say, but there’s no need to be BORING.

PS: Have I told you yet how glad I am you followed me over here? You are one of the 2 non-family readers who got me past the “eff it all, no one’s reading anyway” stage earlier this month.

    Thank you, CM!
I’m very glad you got past that, too – it would’ve been a real shame to put your light *back* under that bushel! 😉

Bright Autumn Blessings to you, and do keep writing! (and I will, too…)

This is hilarious. I came over to read Paul’s guest post, and started poking around your blog.

As a fake legal expert AND a fake medical expert, I guess I should have a disclaimer on my blog too. Oh well!

    • I’m so glad you decided to read more than just Paul’s blog – *sigh* – he seems to have totally taken over my readership! While I’m very proud of the fact that I had the good sense to bring him in as a guest poster, I’m becoming a little concerned that when he does start his own blog, he will take my readers with him, and leave me with none. Hopefully everyone will continue to read both blogs, ’cause you know I’m wonderful, too. [oops, that insecurity is peeking through again.]

Love it! Totally side tracked me from my assignment but it was well worth the read. I found you from the image i was sourcing for an out of control child throwing a tantrum. Do you know who the original author or illustrator was from the picture or its history?

    • Thank you for reading that page in the blog – and thank you for the reminder that I need to periodically check on my right to use other people’s images in my blog. At the time I posted that particular image, I believed it was creative commons licensed since it appeared on Flickr.com (there is a link at the bottom of the Legal-Schmegal page to the original image on Flickr.com). After reading your comment, I decided to re-check and discovered the image is now “All rights reserved.” I will contact T. Hart, the artist, and ask for specific permission to continue to use the image on this blog since it fits so perfectly. May this be a lesson to all of us that sometimes Flickr.com members change the access level allowed for this images. I have done so myself, going from “anyone can use it” to “you can maybe use it if you contact me first.” Therefore, we should all check periodically to make sure we still have the right to use whatever images we’ve posted. I mostly solved this problem by switching over to my own photography, but there are still older posts and pages using work by others.
