Before the Storm

Big snow coming later today.

Up to 15 inches of snow expected overnight in my area.  While that isn’t an outrageous amount for Western New York in February, it will make driving anywhere hazardous until the snow stops and the plows do their job.

And, of course, there’s the cold.  With temperatures in the teens (Fahrenheit), even the slightest breeze makes it unbearable outside.  I’m glad I’m not a dog who has to do her business outside.  Poor Puppy Cody hasn’t even wanted to chase bunnies and squirrels much recently; she just goes out, does her business, and comes right back in.  If she stays out more than a few minutes, her feet freeze.  We tried those doggie booties a couple of years back, but that didn’t work out well and they didn’t stay on, so we gave up.

On the Hunt

Not that there are very many critters for Cody to chase in the yard anyway.   The hawk that’s been hanging out in our trees doesn’t seem to be having a lot of luck hunting for prey.  Good thing Cody isn’t a tiny dog!

Cody managed to get a bunny anyway – with a little help from Mom:

Got that Bunny!

Bunny All Gone

At least it kept her occupied for awhile.  Once the face was chewed off and the squeaker torn out, Cody lost interest and decided to take a nap.

Which sounds good to me (the nap, not the destruction).  There’s something special about hunkering down in a nice warm bed while the snow flies outside.

Hope all is well with you.  Stay safe and healthy!

On the other side of the country, we have been getting snow for a few days now – probably about 15″ of the stuff out there – now it’s your turn. We’ve been below freezing for all of that time, but by tonight we are to be a bit above freezing, which will be welcome. I’m ready for daffodils. Good luck with that, right?.

  2. What is it with some dogs and squeakers? Barney would not rest until the squeaker was out, yet Maggie got anxious when she couldn’t make her ‘baby’ squeak.
    Keep safe.

It’s finally warmed UP to the teens here; we’ve spent about a week below zero F!

Maddie doesn’t give up on the bunny until all the stuffing has also been removed.

I hope you do well with the snow.

Did you hear that it snowed in Houston? Whole place is shut down, power outages and everything, on account of a snowstorm.

Cody is beautiful! Those eyes:). And the doggie booties–sigh. Bailey won’t keep hers on either and freaks when I try to put them on her. I’m not sure who they’re made for, but it’s not feisty larger dogs!

Cody has her winter look on, just like her cousin Ellie. Be good this winter week, CM.
