A Single Candle to Light the Night
Being “under the weather” on a weekend sucks, doesn’t it?
I had plans for today – shopping, maybe a little outside photography (despite the cold weather). But I’m just not up to it today. Perhaps I did too much that last couple of days, who knows?
In any event, my photography was limited to inside my own house. Flickr’s theme of the week is “Flames” – thus, the photo at the top of this post. Not what I intended to do – I had ambitiously thought I would put together something with ice cream and a candle (Fire and Ice[Cream)]), but didn’t know where my nice glass bowl is, didn’t have a white votive candle, and saw when I went onto Flickr that someone else had already beat me to a very similar shot, although they used snow instead of ice cream. I think my idea is better.
Anyway.
Since I was fooling around with the editing software, I decided to see what black-and-white would do for the photo. I think it came out quite well:
Kind of looks like the moon behind the flame in both photos, doesn’t it? I’m not telling how I got that in there (mostly because I don’t know myself).
If anyone with more imagination than me wishes to use either photo as the basis for a story, feel free. Just link back here so I get that special feeling we all enjoy.

Don’t feel too bad. It was too cold out for me so I stayed in. For a while I got antsy as I saw the bright sunshine but that cold ….. Easterly winds are brutal. No thanks! Hope you feel better soon, CM!! 💞

I’ll be fine, Amy. It’s just a colitis flare. Hubby and I ate out yesterday, and I probably had something I shouldn’t have.

I saw an old flame today, and it put me over the moon. So I reached out and touched her. She slapped me down so hard my face felt like burning wax. You see, she was married.
So am I, come to think of it. Perhaps old flames are best left to flicker out.

I was surprised by how many people prefer the black and white. Personally, I like the full color one better. Everyone sees things just a little differently.

I’m fine, Mark. But I’m definitely looking forward to my long, 5-day weekend coming up – especially considered the storm (now named Harper) that’s supposed to hit. I hear Syracuse is going to get slammed. We’re supposed to get hit pretty hard, too, so I plan to do all my errands tomorrow and then just hide in my house until Tuesday.

I will. Today is a vacation day, so I’ll go out and do all those errands I normally do on Friday, and do the winter storm stock-up run before everyone else cleans out the stores. Bright sunshine here currently (‘tho only 10 degrees), but the forecast still says we’re supposed to get a major snowstorm this weekend. Glad Monday’s a holiday.

Oh, what a clever one you are. I love both candle flames – they each evoke a different mood. The sun is fading here and I’m off to light some candles to put some beauty in my night, as you did.

Whenever I complained I was bored, my mom would find something for me to do – usually some kind of awful chore. I learned to find something to do on my own, like read a book or something.
