“We’re not getting a dog. Stop looking for a dog. I’m not dealing with a dog. Don’t even think about a dog.”
Thankfully, the snow is gone for now. Happy Wednesday, Everyone.

My Mum said this to my Dad many years ago. He brought a puppy home when we were all out and Mum refused to take her coat off when we got back. ‘Either it goes or I do’, she said.
I should point out that shortly before she had walked into Poole (some 4 miles) with our dog as it didn’t travel well and came back on the bus alone.
Then pup crawled up on her lap and she was stroking his fur before she realised it and said ‘Oh, alright then’. He lived to be over 17.

Ha, ha. Those pups seem to know when it’s time to cozy up to someone. Glad it worked out for all of you.

He came to the family as payment for a door when Dad did an old boy a favour and he had no money. When he died, it was several years before my parents got another, and he lived to be 15.

What a great story. You should do a post on it. (Wanna do a guest post on my site? I’d love that.)

Just email me a draft, in Word format, to(cordeliasmom2012@yahoo.com). Put something in the subject line so I know it’s from you. If you have pictures you’d like me to use, send them along. So long as they are your own photos, I will use them I can hardly wait for that guest post!

We’ve had 4 dogs since those words were spoken more than 20 years ago. The first was actually one that my husband, himself, picked out at the SPCA.

Sounds familiar to me. Like that time when a friend brought over a box of puppies and my wife looked at me and said, “We don’t have room for any more dogs, and we don’t want a dog.” Then she looked at her friend and said, “I’ll take the black one.” Such craven hypocrisy.

Yup, that sounds about right. I find that I am now the one saying, “We don’t need a second dog.” Hopefully, no one will bring over a box of puppies!

Me? I am NOT getting a dog! I have enough as it is on my hands! As for snow, yep most of it is gone here too. Now for that “white” Christmas ….. figures, right? 😉

Amy, you have plenty of four-footed critters to take care of, without adding a dog to the mix!
I hear we may get a dusting of snow on Christmas Eve. Personally, I don’t want more than that anyway.

Dusting is fine by me! From a photographer’s point of view though, those drifts do add the drama. 😘

I think we’ve had that conversation 4 time over 35 years. We still have a dog.

Funny how it usually works out that way.

Garry said “No dogs.”
Then he said “No dogs in the bedroom.”
Then he said “She can’t put her head on the pillow.”
One day I came home from work and Garry and Divot were taking a nap. Together. Both of them, under the covers. On the pillows.

Sounds about right, Marilyn. We went from “no dogs” to “no dogs on the furniture.” Now Cody pretty much owns the couch, as did her predecessors.

Sounds like Maggie! I told Hubby that to invite her up on the bed as a cute puppy was a mistake, but he didn’t believe me. Now she has her own bed, it’s 4 feet six wide and we’re allowed to share it…. if we get in first.

“if we get in first” – I love it! They do tend to take over, don’t they?

Yep. Hubs sometimes ends up in the spare room. On the boat he ended up being pushed off the bed once (it was only 4 feet wide to begin with, boy those extra 6 inches make such a difference!)

Great post! My husband wasn’t too into my adoption of Sadie, either. But my therapist recommended, and he agreed I could use the sense of safety with all his military absences, so, I won.
HE LOVES THAT DOG LIKE A FOURTH DAUGHTER. ❤

Sorry for the delay in responding, Joey. Been a bit busy, as you can imagine. Dogs are wonderful therapy! I’d be lost without mine. And Cody’s a little small to be an effective attacker, but she definitely does her job at letting me know if someone comes onto the property, so I can be prepared.
Merry Christmas, Joey.
