I’m glad I’m “retired” and don’t have to go anywhere today.
It’s only a little snow right now, but I’m sure within the next few weeks we’ll get more than our share. I saw a study recently that says Buffalo, NY ranks #4 in the country for overall snowfall. But that’s better than Syracuse (hi there, Mark Bialczyak!), which ranks as #1.
As I was taking today’s photos, there was a knock on my front door. My door does not have a peephole and the way the house is constructed, it’s not possible to see who’s standing on the front porch so normally I don’t answer. Family and friends know to call ahead and then come to the side door.
But with the weather, I thought it might be one of my new neighbors needing something or other, and for my new neighbors I do answer (yes – my life has improved).
Puppy Cody was barking and snarling, and stayed right by my side. She was willing to put her life on the line to save her Mom!
The visitor was a young man with a shovel, and by the time I opened the door he was already trotting back down the driveway (Good job, Cody!). I waved the guy on, seeing as I currently have no money to pay anyone, and I’m certainly capable of brushing a few inches of snow off my sidewalks and driveway – but as soon as he left, I thought, “Wait! I should have asked him to come back when the 2-to-4 feet of snow eventually hits!”
Hopefully, he’s an enterprising young man and will thoughtfully return when that heavy snow comes. I think I’ll put a wee bit of cash aside, just in case – and try to teach Puppy Cody to discern between true threats and people who come to help.
Anyway.
It’s too bad Puppy Cody can’t go out and play in that new snow, thanks to the absent fence contractor, but at 23° F, I don’t really want to be out there at all.
Hugs to all my readers. May the weather be decent wherever you are.

Cold and chilly today, but we managed to get the washing dry outside and Hubby cut the grass (cue rain tomorrow probably!)

Actually, I’d rather have snow than cold rain. Snow just brushes off, but rain soaks you right through.

That’s why we’re glad of our yellows…….. not exactly pretty, but not only are they waterproof, but they keep the cold winds out too.

Stay warm! I like your photos, too!

Thanks, Nick. I love my new home, even if it is in a wintry climate.

I have never seen snow in my entire life. I live in a part of India that doesn’t have snow so I can only imagine how it is for you! Sending warmth in this cold season 😊

Snow is beautiful when it first comes down, especially under starlight, when it twinkles. So long as you’re looking at it from inside a nice warm house. Except, of course, for those winter sports enthusiasts like skiers and ice skaters.

I’m sure it looks beautiful.

We’re supposed to get 3-6” tomorrow. Maddie will get out in it, as long as I do my job.

On behalf of Cody, I’m envious of Maddie. But we’ll take Cody to my daughter’s house – she has a fenced-in yard where Cody can chase bunnies and play in the snow.

You should have asked that snow shoveler if he charges by the inch.

I’d hesitate to ask any man that particular question.

Good point. He might decide to start a brand new profession.

Looks good at the beginning, doesn’t it ??? Still waiting on our first. Maybe today. Hope your shoveling boy comes back for you.

Thanks for the link, CM! Buying online is much cheaper than buying from ToysRus here. (。≖ˇ∀ˇ≖。)

Can Amazon ship to you? Or do the shipping costs become prohibitive? Just wondering. I remember buying toys for my kids through catalogs and then having to pay shipping, but at least the stores were in the same country I am.

Yes, they can ship to Malaysia and it’s free shipping.(*’∀’人)♥

She’s such a good girl 🙂
I feel the same about my door, but sadly, my in-laws drop by all the time. I peek sideways out the curtains and if I don’t know the car, I don’t open the door.

See a car would be an easy way to tell who’s there, but we often get visitors who walk over, like the snow shoveler. I figure if they’ve walked, they probably aren’t too dangerous and would have trouble getting away after an evil deed, but hubby sees things differently.

I understand that. Both sides. And that’s another reason to love our dogs.

We going to get about 7 inches, more or less. What’s weird is that I was SURE we weren’t going to get snow. Positive. So positive, I went to Connecticut without boots — and I always carry boots in the winter because like you, we get SNOW. But in recent years, we’ve gotten a great deal of it, around 10 to 12 feet, but the bulk of it in late January, February and the beginning of March. I wasn’t at all ready for this. In fact, i haven’t made any arrangement to clear the driveway. On the “up” side, we’ve got a jeep and it’s park up at the top of the drive, so if we can hike through the snow, getting out of the driveway shouldn’t be too difficult.
But. I was completely unready. Totally. I hope we get a warm spell to get rid of this because I need to get someone to plow for us. And I really need to get ORGANIZED. Sheesh.

I’m never ready for snow, even when I know it’s coming. I was born and raised in Western New York and I’m used to winter weather, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. Fortunately, we’re in the middle of December and winter usually ends by late March, so there’s only a few months to tolerate it.
