Hopefully, by the time this post is published, the snow will have melted in Western New York, and my roof will have stopped leaking. I’m in no mood for spammers at the moment, but that does not stop them from coming. If nothing else, their comments make me laugh:

“Excellent site you have here but I was curious if you knew of any forums that cover the same topics discussed here? I’d really love to be a part of group where I can get advice from other experienced individuals.”
Response:
Well, since you wrote this on one of my Spam-Bam posts, I would say that you’re doing just fine as a spammer. I know of no forums to help you do your “job” better (thank God – I have a hard enough time keeping up with all of you as it is!).

Comment (excerpt):
“Apologies, We was not clear.”
Response:
Well, maybe YOU was not …
***
“Our lab has found and imported it.”
Response:
I am sooo not going to ask the next logical question.

Comment:
“Now I feel stuidp. That’s cleared it up for me”
Response:
I’m very happy for you. It sure hasn’t cleared anything up for me. Now I feel stuidp. Not.

Comment:
“Hi there it’s me, I am also visiting this web site daily, this web page is genuinely good and the users are in fact sharing fastidious thoughts.”
Response:
Don’t you just love it? – a spammer who frequents my website so often that he/she thinks I know who “me” is! I simply can’t wait to share more “fastidious thoughts” with this new bosom buddy.

“Very energetic article, I loved that bit. Will there be a part 2?”
Response:
Inasmuch as this was written on my post, “Yes! I Survived My First WordPress Year!“, all I can say is: I sure as hell hope there will be a Part 2!

The Easter Bunny will soon cometh. Will I get eggs, candy, or yet more spam? What do you think? Join me in April, and we will learn whether I was naughty or nice this year [oh wait, that’s a different holiday … ].
(As usual, apologies to the appropriate commenter if any of the foregoing weren’t, in fact, spam. I realize that some comments suffer in translation, and I try to take that into account when determining what is spam and what is legitimate.)

I love the ones that go on for a 100 lines or more. Don’t they have anything better to do with their time?

Very energetic article, I loved that bit. I see there will be a part 2. Will there be a part 3? 😉

Ah, one can only hope.
(Damn, you’re good – I read fast and almost thought this was a spam comment. Kudos to you!)

ok, now that’s just a bit over the top … 🙂
I’m always amazed at the responses the spam-bam series gets – definitely a hot button topic for all of us bloggers.

I am honored to know a blogger who writes so fastidiously. **Humbly Bows** After reading your blog I don’t feel so stuidp.

Gee, Paul, if you ever get tired of guest posting, you may have a real future as a spammer. I don’t think there’s any money in the spam comments, however – you’d have to branch out into spam email (I hear there are lots of lottery winners and deposed royalty who wish to share their wealth with me).

I get waves of spam. Some days, I get a couple of hundred of these, other days, not much. I don’t know what brings them or why they suddenly go elsewhere.
My question is this: What do they gain by spamming? Surely they don’t make money. Is anyone dumb enough to click on those obviously virus-filled links? What’s the point? It’s not like anyone is going to think these are real comments. I don’t understand. What do they put on their resume? Spammer??

Spammers are special people. I have no idea why they do what they do. But at least it gives me one post a month that I don’t have to think about too much.

These Spam comments always get put on older posts. Looking just now, I found one where “victor,” of a Yahoo account, with all-seemingly valid info, says he became “a member of the great Illuminati Family.”
I guess I got me a can of Spam with nuts.

I love your phrase “can of Spam with nuts”! May I use that in my April spam-bam post? (I’ll give you credit for it)
And yes, I believe you did get that.

I doubt you’d ever need to use it. And there’s no sense in spreading my not-good name, so don’t credit me if you must spread that nutty Spam.
And I kept that strange comment…which will be deleted Automattically.

Damn. And I was just about to go buy a can of Spam and some nuts to create a photo so that I could use that saying.
But then, I’d probably have to eat that Spam …

Uhm…I said you could, but just don’t name me.

Thanks. I got that, and I probably will use it. Now I just have to decide if I really want a can of spam in my house – it would be a cool picture, but maybe not worth it. 🙂

Your spammers and my spammers have a lot in common, it seems. Some of the spam comments are hilarious, others are nuts, and then there are the ones that simply say, “Nice share.” Huh?

Or the ones that say something like, “Great post!” – forcing me to trace back the links to see if they are legit or spam.

Just sandwiching a comment in among the spam (trying to keep to theme here…)
Hope you have get some entertaining squirrels to amuse you – and not just nuts.

We do have squirrels. Puppy Cody loves to chase them back up the tree and across the telephone wires. She hasn’t caught one yet, but she keeps trying. Just as well – squirrels can get nasty.
