Spam-Bam Thank You Ma’am (March 2015)

Spam lip glaze

Hopefully, by the time this post is published, the snow will have melted in Western New York, and my roof will have stopped leaking.  I’m in no mood for spammers at the moment, but that does not stop them from coming.  If nothing else, their comments make me laugh:

Comment (excerpt):

“Excellent site you have here but I was curious if you knew of any forums that cover the same topics discussed here? I’d really love to be a part of group where I can get advice from other experienced individuals.”

Response:

Well, since you wrote this on one of my Spam-Bam posts, I would say that you’re doing just fine as a spammer.  I know of no forums to help you do your “job” better (thank God – I have a hard enough time keeping up with all of you as it is!).

***

Comment (excerpt):

 “Apologies, We was not clear.”

Response:

Well, maybe YOU was not …

***

Meth LabComment (excerpt):

“Our lab has found and imported it.”

Response:

I am sooo not going to ask the next logical question.

***

Comment:

“Now I feel stuidp. That’s cleared it up for me”

Response:

I’m very happy for you.  It sure hasn’t cleared anything up for me.  Now I feel stuidp. Not.

***

Comment:

“Hi there it’s me, I am also visiting this web site daily, this web page is genuinely good and the users are in fact sharing fastidious thoughts.”

Response:

Don’t you just love it? – a spammer who frequents my website so often that he/she thinks I know who “me” is!  I simply can’t wait to share more “fastidious thoughts” with this new bosom buddy.

Comment:

“Very energetic article, I loved that bit. Will there be a part 2?”

Response:

Inasmuch as this was written on my post, “Yes! I Survived My First WordPress Year!“, all I can say is:  I sure as hell hope there will be a Part 2!

Squirrels are eager for Spring, too!

The Easter Bunny will soon cometh.  Will I get eggs, candy, or yet more spam?  What do you think?  Join me in April, and we will learn whether I was naughty or nice this year [oh wait, that’s a different holiday … ].

(As usual, apologies to the appropriate commenter if any of the foregoing weren’t, in fact, spam.  I realize that some comments suffer in translation, and I try to take that into account when determining what is spam and what is legitimate.)

Sometimes the comments are hysterical. Not many slip through these days, but the ones that do make me laugh.

I am honored to know a blogger who writes so fastidiously. **Humbly Bows** After reading your blog I don’t feel so stuidp.

    • Gee, Paul, if you ever get tired of guest posting, you may have a real future as a spammer. I don’t think there’s any money in the spam comments, however – you’d have to branch out into spam email (I hear there are lots of lottery winners and deposed royalty who wish to share their wealth with me).

  5. I get waves of spam. Some days, I get a couple of hundred of these, other days, not much. I don’t know what brings them or why they suddenly go elsewhere.

My question is this: What do they gain by spamming? Surely they don’t make money. Is anyone dumb enough to click on those obviously virus-filled links? What’s the point? It’s not like anyone is going to think these are real comments. I don’t understand. What do they put on their resume? Spammer??

These Spam comments always get put on older posts. Looking just now, I found one where “victor,” of a Yahoo account, with all-seemingly valid info, says he became “a member of the great Illuminati Family.”

I guess I got me a can of Spam with nuts.

Your spammers and my spammers have a lot in common, it seems. Some of the spam comments are hilarious, others are nuts, and then there are the ones that simply say, “Nice share.” Huh?
