You are hereby presented with the opportunity of a lifetime – you, too, may guest post for Cordelia’s Mom, Still, or for Not Cordelia’s Mom (if you’re one of those more offbeat fiction-oriented bloggers).
I love guest posters. Each day that I have a guest post is a day I don’t have to come up with an idea of my own, and that’s often a good thing.
And thus far, my guest posters have acquired far more views than I ever have, which makes my blog look more successful than it is, which also is a good thing.
However, I’ve been getting some strange emails lately from people who supposedly wish to guest post for me. The emails even have names of the people sending them – unfortunately, some of the names have been identical to those of long-dead authors. I know I attract readers from many different countries and with many different viewpoints, but I don’t think my blog really appeals to readers beyond the grave.
So –
If you are one of those bloggers who truly desires to guest post for me, here are the guidelines (just two – isn’t that special?):
♦ Send me an email indicating your wish to guest post (my email addresses are at the bottom of this page). In that email, include a link to your own website so that I may check you out to see if I really want you associated with me (or to see if you write better than me, in which case I might not want you taking over my blog).
♦ If you don’t have your own website, you are still welcome to guest post. Just send me an email telling me what you’d like to write about. If there are blogs you have commented on, maybe you could send me a link to one or more of those blogs, just so I can see that you’re legit.
NOTE: Paul Curran and Julie are exempt from #2 above. I already know who you are, of course, and you are always welcome at my house.
I’m not particularly fussy about subject matter or writing format, except that I refuse to post porn, and I do insist that the text appear to have been written by a literate adult. Beyond that, pretty much anything goes.
Be aware that I reserve the right to edit and format as necessary, although I try very hard not to change anyone’s post more than absolutely necessary. I also reserve the right to reject any pictures sent with your posts if I feel there might be copyright issues, but I will always email you during the editing process to let you know what’s going on and to give you an opportunity to either do your own revisions or to back out if you prefer (Please don’t. Just sayin’).
Photographers and Artists: I need pictures! Tired of Flickr.com and want to spread out a little? Let me know if you’d like me to feature one of your photographs, paintings, or drawings. Again, if you have a website, send me a link. My readers are all rooting for you, because they sure don’t want me doing any more of my own photography!
A SPECIAL NOTE TO CAT OWNERS AND/OR CAT LOVERS:
Not CM needs a cat. I assure you that despite her nasty personality, she really is a very good cat owner. In fact, her cats become princes and princesses in her house. Recently, she has indicated that she wants to adopt a cat and name it Not Cody so that it can compete with my Puppy Cody.
I’ve never owned a cat and really don’t understand cats, so I would be out of my element if ever tried to write as a cat.
Any volunteers? You would get joint billing for any collaborated posts – check out the ones Anne Belov (a/k/a Bob T. Panda) and I have done on my regular blog, and which feature my Puppy Cody and her cat Mehitabel. It’s great fun, and as my readership grows, yours may, too.
I also will need a series of photographs of whatever cat becomes Not Cody. I’d prefer not to keep using Flickr.com for this because I really want just one cat that can be highlighted in various posts. A black cat would be ideal, but any cat who photographs with an attitude would fit in well with the theme of the mirror blog.
I envision the Not Cody will appear in Not CM posts on a periodic basis – and my collaborator only has to do half the post – so it won’t be overly time-consuming for either of us. But the Not Cody posts will be hilariously entertaining (is that redundant?) and will appeal to an entirely different readership than most ordinary blogs. It can be an opportunity to create an entirely new persona, without having to set up your own mirror blog. How enticing is that?

CHECK BELOW FOR THE EMAIL ADDRESSES, AND GO TO IT! I need guest posters and the Not Cody cat immediately, and I’m sitting by my computer just waiting for all your emails to hit. Make my day, people!

I volunteer for the cat job. It would be nice to live as a princess in someone else’s house! I can meow and I don’t mind chopped liver. Much.

Yes, but can you write as a cat? Not that I doubt your abilities, having read both your blogs, but cats have that whole attitude thing going on. I know I can’t write as a cat.

I dunno, but my mother always said I could catty… So, maybe?

Hey, give it a shot if you want. Write something up in all that free time you have and email it to me. It could really be fun.
NOTE: Be aware that my responding email may come back with a different name, or may have both “CordeliasMom2012” and a second name on it. I haven’t been able to figure out why Yahoo does that.

I haven’t grown tired of Flickr yet. I have tons of photos out there (most are tagged) and if you would like to use any of them here, I’d be honored – https://flic.kr/ps/caxxE – I think the comment will include the link to my blog.

Absolute, I will use some of your photos! I was especially amused by the one looking through the blinds – I just took one similar to that at my own house, but I haven’t posted it to Flickr.com yet.

OOoh, tempting. Maybe we could even guest post for each other. 😀 I don’t do animals, but I think you and I have similar enough styles on our regular blogs that we could easily share a few followers. 🙂

I’m honored, Linda. You may send me a guest post any time, and I’ll plan to do one for you. Any special topics you’d like me to tackle?

Anything. I’m not picky. 🙂 Is next week okay? Or were you looking at a particular timeframe? Maybe we can trade posts on the same day. 🙂

I am late to the game, as usual (assuming I’ll be late to my own funeral)…I am working on a huge photo project, but should be finished within the week…I will shoot you an email, if you’re still taking on guest posters… 🙂
