He’s a mean one …
‘Twas the day before Christmas and all through the office, lowly workers were awaiting the arrival of “Santa” with the annual Christmas bonus. After all, there had been no raises for 10 years, but there had been annual bonuses at Christmas time – was a bonus this year too much to expect?
The boss whipped his employees into a frenzy completing last-minute projects before the long holiday, and the employees worked diligently and quietly, while listening to the boss’s phone call with his investment advisor:
“Transfer $20,000 from this account to that account.”
“Buy more of that ABC stock, say about $20,000 worth.”
“Oh, and let’s give $25,000 to the XYZ charity so I can get the tax deduction for it this year.”
Surely, with all that money floating around, a relatively small bonus to his faithful servants would be in order.
You would think so, wouldn’t you? Nope, not even a jelly-of-the-month-club subscription.
WTF.
Bah, humbug.

When even the boss has to tighten his belt, and cut back to only one new Rolls-Royce a year, we can be understanding. But when money flows like water, but none of it drips down to us – that’s another #*&(( story. 😦

Exactly. I would have been Ok if I knew the business had done poorly, but the truth is the profits this year were astronomical. Surely, they could have shared with the lackeys who actually did the work.

Wow, CM – though having a job is a good thing – your boss sounds like an insensitive a$$h@!#, you don’t have those types of conversations in front of your employees if they are not in “a need to know” position. Bad form for sure!

Yep. I think the work powers-that-be have totally forgotten that the employees are not in the upper income brackets. The usual amount of my bonus is simply lunch money to them, but a big boost to me.
